"...We live in a grade two listed property and wanted to replace the 50-70 year old pine floorboards (not in good condition) in our dining room and upper drawing room with authentic solid oak flooring to be more in keeping with the home than what was currently there.  We were recommended two carpenters from the sawmill we purchased our wood from.  One gave us an oral quote without even bothering to come out to our home and the other (Spencer of SF Carpentry & Joinery Ltd) came out to our home, discussed our needs, gave us great suggestions, measured up the whole area and proceeded to give us a professional estimate in a very timely manner.  We were most impressed by his patience, expertise and suggestions/ideas to help us especially when we weren't sure exactly what we wanted.  As an aside, I would also like to point out that he took the time to take off his shoes when he came into our home, which not many tradesmen do.  This may seem small, but it gave a great first impression of a professional who cares about your home and which carried through until the job was finished.

 The job proved to be much more difficult than we anticipated but this was due to the house being so old.  Saying that, every time Spencer and his team encountered another problem (and believe me there were quite a few!), Spencer always had a solution and gave it to us with a smile.  This was all the more impressive due to the fact he was super busy because everyone wanted their job completed before Christmas so Spencer was working all hours, weekends, late nights and still doing it all with a smile!  We added to his stress (as we loved Spencer's work so much) when we decided to have the bottom of our stairs done, which gave a better flow from the drawing room to the dining room.  He had to rebuild steps for us and he also replaced the flooring under the stairs amongst a lot more work.  Again, he took on this extra work because he too felt it would make a big difference to the flow of the rooms.  The flow of our home is amazing and much more in keeping and sympathetic to our old house.  Spencer even went to the trouble of painting a number of pieces of spare flooring with the different stains so we could decide which one would suit the house best.  We love our floors and have received loads of compliments from our guests.

The quality and finish of Spencer's work is incredible and he has managed to make our floors look like they were in the house for years (in a very good way!!).  He is a true professional and an excellent craftsman.  We would happily and highly recommend Spencer to anybody who is looking for the perfect job done in their home..."
